Day 5 - I was awake from 5am after a cold and noisy night. There was a dog over by the monastery barking throughout the night that i was hoping someone would shoot. I decided to get up, put on my down jacket and stand around outside to see the sunrise. It wasn't long before Gavin and Andrew joined me. We got a few shots and went inside to pack our day sacks and meet everyone for our usual porridge breakfast and eggy bread.
Next stop off would be Dingboche. The route today was a very gradual climb but still had a few blowy moments. Paul was really struggling after a night of sickness and Geordie was really suffering aswell. By lunchtime both of them were looking dreadful. It wasn't long after lunch that my headache came back. The higher I went the more painful it seemed to get. At one point I got pain in my ears. It felt like my brain was swelling and trying to squeeze out of my ear canals. I slowed down a lot and it wasn't long before i saw Geordie approaching from behind. He looked terrible! Neil and Gavin then approached, they had me laughing the rest of the way to Dingboche. Pretty much as soon as i stopped walking my headache vanished (just like yesterday) and i spent the evening playing cards. That night Paul passed out.

Ama Dablam summit

I'd say that Ama Dablam was the most striking of all the mountains.

Hard to comprehend how much snow and ice

4000m!
