Day 4 - Part of the daily routine was to ask how tough the day was likely to be, would there be a lot of steep moments and how many hours would it take? Once we knew what to expect we were then able to decide how many Mars bars we would need. Day 4 was due to include a big drop down and then a huge climb. It was definitely a 2 Mars bar day. Our destination for that evening would be Tengboche (3860m).
Leaving Namche and continuing along the trail we had much clearer views of Mount Everest. Unfortunately we had to descend to the bottom of the valley for lunch and then take a 600m steep climb up to Tengboche. It seemed that the sun was particularly harsh today and as we climbed it wasn't long until my headache returned. I was taking a mix of ibuprofen and paracetamol but they weren't doing anything for me.
Finally we all made it to Tengboche. After a quick ginger tea at the tea house we had a visit of the Tengboche Monastery. Inside we were surprised by how colourful it was. We were in a monastery high up in the Himalayas. Geordie even looked like Kung Fu Panda!!
Back at the tea house my headache had passed and I made a bad error of drinking several beers as we played cards.
That evening Paul.T suffered from sickness.
