Everest Base Camp Trek

Day 3 (Acclimatization Day) - Due to the big leap in height the previous day, it was essential to spend another night at Namche before continuing any higher. Another good thing about these days is the fact that they are short so you we had plenty of rest time and opportunity to explore.

At around 8:30am we took a short climb above Namche to the Sagarmatha National Park museum. Here we got our first view of Mount Everest. The summit was just visible through the haze. The next objective was to reach our maximum altitude for the day which was another Everest view point at 3860m. It was a steep climb straight up which passed the worlds highest airstrip, Syangboche. We spent close to an hour at the view point, relaxing and taking photos before taking a slightly different route back down to Namche for a relaxing afternoon. During the descent I started to suffer from a rather nasty headache which stayed with me for the rest of the day :(

The accommodation at Namche was what we would consider later as luxury. There was sit-down flushing toilets, warm rooms with blankets, showers, laundry service and the food was good aswell. I spent my afternoon walking around the shops and a quick trip to the internet cafe.

My headache continued and Alan went to bed early, really not looking too good.
