The last hike we have done in the dolomites and my favorite yet. The morning started out a little cloudy so we took our time getting to the start point, that and the fact that i had to go back down the gondola to the car park for my sunhat, somewhat a blessing. By the time we got started, the clouds had lifted, giving us a day of great visibility, which is never a given at this height in the mountains. The route was rugged, loose ground at times but with some amazing rock formations. Again we stopped at a rifugio for apple strudel. Always a good idea!
We parked in Selva di Val Gardena and took the Dantercepies gondola and arrived at this cafe/shop. time for a cappuccino and wait for the cloud to shift. we didn't want the skies to ruin our views today.
Following the path to rifugio jimmy.
as we approached rifugio jimmy, we took a step trail leading up to the cliffs on our left. This view looking back down to rifugio jimmy.
Taking a moment to enjoy the amazing views and watching the clouds swirl around the rocky plateau beyond.
an easy incline up through fragile rock formations.
We don't see towers of rock like this often.
Looking back down to that same tower of rock .
Snack break at passo cir
loose stoney track leading to the pointy rocks (back middle)
from Passo Crespeina . you can see the track on the left that we followed.
dropping onto a huge PUEZ plateau, easy walking but sore feet.

Rifugio Puez. I was in need of some energy. I had a beer, i had a coke and i had apple strudel.
The stunning descent down to Vallunga. Sometimes a bit steep and exposed in places but full of drama.
Following a chute of rubble and a stream to the woodland below
Exiting a woodland of small trees into a pasture. Quite a contrast to the rest of the hike.
St Sylvester's Chapel
back into selva and a short walk to the gondola carpark.
