I've screwed up this last year, I've left it far too long to update my site. 9 months later, i am writing this and struggling to remember the details from this walk. I'll do my best! The previous night had been spent in the hotel at Gullivers. We had a room decked out like a wizards den. kinda odd, but the views down into matlock bath were awesome. This was our last walk of a short family trip, which started in the lakes and ended with us chasing better weather down south in the peaks.
Cromford wharf. we parked up just around the corner just before turning into the wharf.
Erin leading the way along the canal.
I'm surprised to say that this was my first time on cromford canal. A very pretty stretch of easy walking. Thanks to angela at www.peakwalker.net for this one :)
High PEAK Junction
No stop here today, we had rain to dodge.
Leawood Pump House. I'd love to go inside.
The Aquaduct Cottage, restored by locals and gifted to the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.
Erin in Gregory Tunnel. Out the other side, we cut right onto a track that went back over the top of the tunnel and on to a trail.
Bridge over the River Derwent.
In woodland heading in the direction of Birchwood Farm Caravan Park.
Near the back of the campsite and Cromford Moor, heading towards Bolehill.
Trig Point with Erin and Lucas
Following the track through the birch trees to Black Rock.
View from Black Rock
Matlock Bath in the distance.
Joining the High peak Trail.
Following the High Peak Trail towards Cromford.
View from the High Peak Trail.
A perfect place for a bench.
This could be my first time on the High peak Trail. Not sure if I've ever touched on it during a different walk but I'm keen to see more of it.
Back to Cromford with a huge craving for ice cream.
