Weather looks good as we head off from Patterdale.
Why do I always insist on overdressing from the car park to then have to remove layers within 5 minutes? I will never learn.
Ullswater in the distance
Blue sky over Grisedale
Clouds over Helvellyn in the distance. Fingers were crossed that it would soon be shifting.
Looking back down into Grisedale on our ascent to the Hole-in-the-wall
Clouds rolling over Nethermost Pike
Gentle walking
Another look down into Grisedale with Birks behind
Hole-in-the-wall
Yes! Fairly clear on Helvellyn
and clear also on Striding Edge
Minutes later and cloud has swept in fast over Helvellyn and Striding Edge
Looking back, we are surrounded
As we traverse Striding Edge its very windy and visibility has become very poor.
Successfully at the end of Striding Edge with the scramble up to Helvellyn to look forward to.
No views from Helvellyn today. Just like last time I was here
Charles Gough memorial plaque
After a long viewless walk in the clouds across Nethermost Pike, High Crag and Dollywaggon Pike we reached Grisedale Tarn
Now beneath the clouds we could see our way back through Grisedale
Ruthwaite Lodge and falls
Taking a moment before returning to Patterdale through Grisedale
