After a night without dinner, we drove straight to the woolpack inn in eskdale for a cooked breakfast, It was a good quality breakfast with great service! Feeling fueled and ready, we drove back up hardknott pass and around to the dunnerdale forest for a quick ascent of harter fell.

 

starting from the car park at birks bridge.

over the bridge next to the car park and following the road that curves around to the left.

White Pike, Green Pikes and Caw in the distance.

The Ulpha fell peaks ahead but not where we are going today.

Brandy crag and mart crag on the lower flank of harter fell.

about 2.5km on the road and a clear view of green crag in the distance.

Eventually the road ends with a turning area and continues on as path through the woodland.

10 minutes to the edge of the wood and we reached this gate. Through the gate, a track leads on immediately on the right.

Heading up the southwest side of harter fell. It was a pretty hot morning and the lack of dinner the night before was definitely impacting my energy levels.

turning left just before that tower of rock ahead led on to the summit.

Great views out to the coast and the isle of man.

Back on the road returning back the same way we came.
