You may recognize the start of this walk from a previous day out of mine back in 2019. clapham is a lovely yorkshire village and a fine place to be stranded in for a few hours. that's actually how our day started. immediately after arriving at the car park, we locked the car door with the keys inside. unfortunately, we hadn't yet got around to lacing up our hiking boots or putting on coats. it was looking like a failed journey and not what you want after a 3 hour drive. fortunately we were saved by a local locksmith who, even though was off duty, came to the rescue. we spent our time waiting eating brownies at the old sawmill cafe.

 

90 minutes later, car was unlocked, boots were tied and we were off on our hike. our first time tackling ingleborough from this side and it not being part of the yorkshire three peaks challenge. a fun day with a lengthy stretch in darkness trudging back around through field after field.

shortly after this photo, it got very dark. we followed a 6km route through fields and faint tracks back to clapham.
