Straight out of the car, after the usual 4 hour drive to the lakes, and heading for the summit of Place Fell. This is day 1 of 3 intended days hiking in the lakes. I say intended, because often, the weather disagrees.
Heading over the bridge to the hamlet of Rooking.
Looking back to patterdale and the white lion.
Place fell ahead.
making our way up the south west side of place fell.
Looking out to the next wainwright today, arnison crag with black crag behind.

great weather and a gentle ascent.
we kept looking back for obvious reason.
Looking out to bridgend and deepdale.
i nice spot for lunch just above boredale hause.
Steady slog ahead up place fell,
brothers water in the distance and the hartsop dodds.
Again, i kept looking back.

over round how, the summit of place fell in the distance. spot the trig point.
The Helvellyn range in the back, still holding on to some snow
