The Boys in Blue at Bakewell Station
Setting off along the old train line.
Great Longstone Station
Very excited as we approached Headstone Tunnel
Closed for many years and now open to the the public after safety work had to be carried out.
The first thing Noah had to do was rub his arm along the side of the tunnel. Nice one!
Noah on the Headstone Viaduct over Monsal Dale
Cressbrook Mill
Cressbrook Tunnel
We all found being in these exciting. Especially Noah!
These tunnels seem huge! Long enough for me to forget it was raining outside
Looking down to the River Wye towards Cressbrook
From the same position but also showing the last tunnel we came out of.
One of the information points along the route. Wind it up and have a listen to the history of the train line.
approaching Litton Tunnel
Inside Litton Tunnel. No bats to be seem. (ps- these tunnels are a bit darker but I set a longer exposure to bring out a little detail)
Alan or is it the Black Swan?
Chocolate Flapjack time. It's a tradition we have.
Lime Kilns near Millers Dale.
Old closed off Viaduct at Millers Dale Station Clearly not used in many many years judging by the trees growing on it.
Here is the Viaduct and Millers Dale Station taken from
www.forgottenrelics.co.uk
Millers Dale Station today
Walking along the platform
A slight detour above one of the lime kilns
Down inside the lime kiln. It was almost pitch black in here and i didnt have anywhere to prop my camera for a long exposure
posing
Next up was Chee Tor Tunnels 1 and 2
Three menacing people waiting for me or ready to do me over
exiting the final tunnel
Chee Dale
Drowned rats
coming to the end of our walk at Wye Dale. Our intention was to get the bus back to Bakewell.
Note - Very limited service from Wye Dale on a sunday
