The Royal Gorge Canyon Rim Trail. First we had to walk along the highest suspension bridge in America. see the official website here. We then followed the nearby Canyon Trail.
Even with an ultra wide lens, it's hard to show just how huge this canyon is
today most of the activities at the royal gorge bridge were closed due to high winds. if the wind was much stronger, i think they would have closed the bridge too. it was swaying left and righ, up and down as we walked across it.
built in 1929 and it survived a wildland fire in 2013. of it's 1257 wooden plank, only 100 perished, although the majority of the surrounding buildings were destroyed.
looking down through the planks
another look down the canyon
a 2 minute drive up the road from the royal gorge bridge is the trail head for the canyon rim trail.
a fairly short walk only taking about 60 minutes to complete
