Arran Ale Brewery. We parked on the other side of the road next to the mountain rescue centre
Hoping that the rain will hold off
Following the well marked route for Goat Fell. Keep going straight as there are plenty of woodland tracks leading elsewhere
By now Goat Fell is unmistakable
Looking back across the very lush landscape around Cnocan Wood
A nice place to take a rest and soak up the views. I was hoping they would last as the summit ahead was looking almost clear.
Looking back from the bridge. You can see from the clouds in the sky that it was a bit unsettled
up onto a moorland plateau. This area has a feel of the peak district
The far ridge line is where the path ascends. Top the very steep looking section that looks as if a track is going up it.
Doesn't look far now but looks can be deceiving. The summit looking almost clear as i stayed to the right and made my way up the ridge line
Looking up towards the summit with the Stacach ridge to the right
The view back to Brodick with a ferry approaching from the mainland
Goat Fell summit with not much to see
This interesting plaque shows you what you would see on a nice clear day. Shame!
Heading back down the ridge and the conditions have cleared slightly. Isn't that always often the way?
Brodick bay and the Holy Island in the distance
Back across the moorland plateau
last chance for views before heading into the woods
Back into Cnocan Wood
