A free afternoon after a very rewarding hike in the sun to lago di sorapis meant that we were seeking something a little more relaxing. Let's go up the third highest mountain in the dolomites, but by cable car.

 

I didn't do the best job documenting this excursion. crammed into a cable car with about 15 people made it not worth taking photos on the way up. no big deal though, as the views at the top were more deserving of our attention. From what i recall, i think it was approx 50 euros each for the cable cars to the summit and back.

There are two stops before the final station Col Druscié at 1778 m. and Ra Valles at 2470 m. The last station Cima Tofana then offers a short hike to the mountain summit 3244 m. This shot zooms in from the highest station to the summit.

It took a moment to compose ourselves before following the ledge.

Even with people coming the other way, it's not too bad. Just have to take things slowly and be considerate.

Lucky we got the weather for it.

After the ledge, there was a choice of different short scramble routes to the summit.

Feeling a slight shortness of breath. I don't know if that was the exposure or the altitude, we made our way back down.
