New Years Day! It's become a tradition to hike on the 1st day of the year and i'll try and keep this up, work shift permitting. I'd done these edges some years ago but today we managed to find a less traveled cliff named Gardom's Edge.
we parked up in the village of baslow and made our way through yeld wood
in the raddowhole plantation

Looking back to Baslow
approaching a small woodland below Gardom's Edge
on the OS map these are called Three Men
supposedly placed here in the eighteenth century in commemoration of three shepherds who died in the snow

Wellington's Monument. We waited ages for a family to move on who were perched on the monument. We ended up giving up and taking a photo at the rear of the monument. I think several walkers were frustrated to not get a photo of the monument without the family blocking it.
Note: Like mountain summits, trig points etc, Consider other people who took the time to reach that feature. Take your photo and move aside.

Curbar Edge from Baslow Edge
A busy spot between these edges. I didn't realize just how popular a walk Curbar Edge is.

Descending through Froggatt Edge
Joining the river derwent near Froggatt Bridge. We then followed the river to the village of Curbar and back to Baslow along Gorsebank Lane.
