I've been looking at visiting higger tor for a long time. I've been around it so many times so today would be the day for make ourselves familiar. We started and ended at the longshaw estate and along the way visited stanage edge, robins hood's cave, hathersgae and padley gorge. it was a pretty gloomy day but that just adds to the drama of the mysterious peak district.

robin hood's cave. i've missed it in the past but it's easy enough to find it if you want to.
looking back to my way in. fortunately those large rocks are there to keep my feet dry. it took some interesting maneuvers to get through without wet socks.

ok so much much further on after traversing farmland and passing through hathersage we follow the river derwent
I have no idea what this structure is in padley wood. It looks like the start of a tunnel but it is approximately 9ft x 9ft.

after leaving padley gorge we were back at the longshaw estate with sore feet but with pleased with the interesting walk
